Unbelievable Sound, Comfortable! Reviews Beyerdynamic DT-990-Pro-250 Professional Acoustically Open Headphone

Super cans that you will enjoy all music! You will not find anything out there beat these Beyerdynamic AMS-DT-990-Pro-250 cans for the price! These headphones are light as a feather, but hug your head, some say too tightly, but I have no issue with wearing these things hours on end. You're probably looking at those earpads thinking "damn those look soft", well, you're right.

If u get the 250 ohm or 600 ohm, you will need a strong amp to run them, again you will love these things. I know I have other high end cans. These are my favorite! These things are like big fluffy clouds. Can't even describe the level of comfort here. They get a tad warm, as all headphones do, but I think the fact that they are open back lets the majority of the heat out. Give these time to burn in & enjoy them!!!

Personally I do not believe there is a better headphone on the market anywhere near this price range. I did not mention any other manufacturer's models because there are a lot of very good headphones on the market and comparing them is personal to how you like to listen to music and what sounds best to you.

To the best of my knowledge the DT990 Premium is the same headset except for the all aluminum body, straight cable and contoured foam case. Had them all - Grado's, Sennheiser's, Koss., etc. Nothing comes close for the money. These have great imaging and a terrific non-fatiguing sound that can be listened to for hours. Unlike the Sennheiser's they actually have bass. Unlike the Grado's they have a soundstage. Unlike Koss they're comfortable to wear.

Build Quality: 9.5/10
Even though the cups are plastic, it's a VERY rigid plastic that's carefully cut and molded in shape. There's a very substantial aluminum "fork" that connects the cups to a steel headband structure that allows for quite a bit of articulation so that you can obtain a precise fit. My only complaint is that the coiled cable is... a little annoying sometimes. 

Comfort: 9.5/10
These headphones are like having stuffed animals cuddling with your ears. Since the headband is high quality spring steel you can adapt the headphones perfectly to your head using this method. I should mention that if you live in a tropical climate or anywhere warm those velour earpads will make you sweat a ton. 

Sound Quality: 10/10
That said, for mastering headphones in a studio or for listening to music this "colour" lends music a wonderful vibrance that other headphones just don't do. They do have quite a bit of EXTREMELY detailed trebble and deliver a wonderful detailed but voluminous bass. This headphone NEEDS an amp to perform properly. Paired with a good amp you will be very pleasantly surprised.

"Beautiful sound. I am a music lover but admittedly this is my first purchase of quality headphones. So, I cannot compare to others. The sound is beautiful. "Excellent Sound and Value. The DT-990 Pro is an excellent headphone. The Grados are often mentioned as THE phones for rock, but the DT-990s are also excellent for rock music with the fatigue as well as being much more comfortable.
